DIY Glittered Dish with Vintage Spice Rack Jewelry Holder 7-31-12

on July 31, 2012

ImageBack when I published my first post about the vintage spice rack I turned into a jewelry holder, I knew I needed some sort of dish or cup to put my stud earrings, rings, and bracelets in. Luckily I found some great plastic dishes at Michaels that were really cheap!

Clear Dish (plastic)
Mod Podge (Satin)
Paint brush
Cup for glitter (I used a Dixie cup)
Clear acrylic sealant
ImageFirst I poured the glitter into the dixie cup and then slowly added the mod podge to it. Then using the paint brush, I mixed it up thoroughly and then painted the glitter onto the dishes. I ended up painting three coats onto the dishes and let them dry for about 30 minutes in between. Then I sprayed the clear acrylic sealant all over the dishes and let them dry for an hour. The first picture on this post is what the dishes look like from the outside and inside once finished.

Next I poured all of my stud earrings into one of the dishes, and then put my soft bracelets into the other with my rings. Here is what my finalized spice rack turned jewelry holder with custom glittered dishes looks like!
